Dr. Charlie Miller is vice president of social learning at Microsoft and founder of Flipgrid, a shoftform video discussion platform used by more than 100 million pre-K to Ph.D. educators, learners, and families across 190 countries. Charlie and his team joined Microsoft in 2018 with Microsoft’s acquisition of Flipgrid.
Prior to Microsoft, Charlie was a tenured associate professor in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota, as well as founder and executive director of the Institute for Design Innovation. Charlie has published more than 100 articles, book chapters, and conference proceedings focused on the intersection of social learning, community, and design.
For achievements across education and the startup sector, Charlie is a distinguished alumni at the University of Minnesota, a 40 Under 40 recipient from Minneapolis Business Journal, and a Tech Titan for Investment Catalyst in Minnesota.
In addition to Microsoft, Charlie serves on the board of directors at Capstone, a company in Minneapolis focused on empowering early literacy and professional development in grades pre-K to five.
Charlie’s passions include nature photography, boating and architectural design.
