Founders Feature: Sola Security

Sola Security

M12

Fresh off a $35M Series A funding round, Sola Security is redefining how security challenges are approached and solved by bringing the AI revolution to cybersecurity. Founded in 2024, the startup has raised $60M to date to advance its cybersecurity AI assistant, empowering teams to take control of their security solutions quickly and easily, with minimal resource investment. The solution enables organizations of all sizes to prompt their stack and create security solutions in minutes.

M12, Microsoft’s Venture Fund, invested in Sola Security because we recognized that Sola is transforming cybersecurity as we know it and ushering it into the age of AI. In a year, the Sola team has demonstrated remarkable vision and execution with a product that proves itself quickly and a team that sees opportunity in every challenge.

In this month’s edition of Founders Feature, we connected with Sola’s Co-Founder and CEO Guy Flechter to learn more about how Sola is pioneering AI in cybersecurity. Follow our Q&A below.

What inspired you to start this company?

Guy Flechter, Sola Security Co-Founder and CEO

Guy: Honestly, frustration. Cybersecurity hasn’t evolved in decades. Everything else in tech has been getting simpler, faster, and more empowering. Design had Canva, payments had Stripe, websites had Wix, and security was still buried under big tools and heavy investment in resources.

We didn’t want to build another product that adds to the noise. We wanted to fix the system from its core.

We started Sola Security to bring the AI revolution into cybersecurity, not just to automate alerts, but to help teams actually create the security they need, on demand. Our solution is simple, fast, and smart, the way it should’ve been all along, and the way it HAS to be now that we have such powerful AI on our side.

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far, and how did you overcome it?

Guy: Getting people to lose their skepticism. Specifically, convincing people that AI in security isn’t science fiction or snake oil, it’s just the new normal.

Security folks are (understandably) skeptical. They’ve seen “AI-powered” stickers slapped on old tech. The challenge was proving that what we’re doing is actually different and giving them the power to change the way they work.

What helped our cause is that we built Sola to show the value instantly. People can spin up custom security solutions that fit their needs in minutes, not months. Once people use it, they don’t need convincing. That’s been the best answer to skepticism: execution.

What qualities do you look for in your team members?

Guy: Curiosity, excitement, and zero ego. Security is full of people who know a lot, but the best ones are still asking questions, challenging the status quo and the “but this is how we’ve always done it” crowd.

We look for people who get excited about solving hard problems, and can turn chaos into something that actually works.

Also, humor helps. People in cybersecurity have a tendency of taking themselves too seriously. We want to make sure to steer clear of them 🙂

How do you stay ahead of the competition?

Guy: We act like a B2C company. We look at our users and adapt fast. Every interaction is measured and we are working with users to add value all the time.

Our users keep us fast and agile and that’s the best motivator we could ask for.

What do you look for in a strategic partner?

Guy: Speed, conviction, and belief in change. We were very fortunate to be able to have our pick of investors. We chose the ones who really understood our vision, and believe the future of cybersecurity looks nothing like its past. Partners like M12, Microsoft’s Venture Fund who understand that this is a movement, not a feature. They understand that making cybersecurity radically accessible with AI is a once-in-a-generation shift, and they’re excited to join us in making it happen.

What do you do to stay motivated and inspired?

Guy: Watching what our users build. For example: seeing a small startup use Sola to do in minutes what used to take them weeks with an external investor, getting texts saying “Sola saved my a** in a meeting this morning.” Those are addictive in the best way possible.

Also, let’s be honest: cybersecurity is full of broken systems. There’s never a shortage of things to fix. We stay motivated because we actually like breaking those old assumptions and proving that security can be done better, lighter, and smarter. And we have the best team on earth to do it. That’s the fuel.
